Understanding Comics: Basics and fundamentals of graphic storytelling - In this special program for teens, guest artist, Tana Ford from Marvel Comics, will discuss the building blocks of sequential art, while touching lightly on the evolution of comics as an artform. Participants will begin to put their understanding of comics to work right away by writing their own stories and beginning to break those stories down into page by page elements. Teen artists will design their own characters and practice storytelling as Ford leads them through inventing, modeling, outfitting, and producing a turn-around for their original characters.

Production and Creation: Turning Ideas into Reality - In this section teens will build on theories and techniques explored in the first section while expanding our understanding of how comics books are actually made. From script to thumbnails, pencils to ink, scanning, lettering and final proofs the students will get a hands-on comics creation master class, the end of which will leave them with a finished comic book story of their very own.

June 11 - 22 from 10AM - 2PM

Ages 14-18
